Nell'uso familiare, bile è un accesso intenso e improvviso di rabbia, dall'antica credenza secondo cui nel liquido secreto dal fegato si concentrasse l'umore che provocava le passioni. Fiele ha lo stesso significato, ma aggiunge una sfumatura di astio, di livore coltivato a lungo.
